Its suites and rooms look out on a delightful garden where one may take breakfast- afternoon cocktails or tea- weather permitting-This unusual and charming hotel provides comfort and quiet in a vibrant quarter of Paris where the Avant Garde lives along side history. The ceiling in the Chambre a la Fresque is worth a visit. The rue des Saints-Peres crosses the Boulevard Saint-Germain exactly where the sixth arrondissement becomes the seventh- amid some of the city*s smartest shopping. For such a central and desirable location- the Hotel des Saints-Peres is surprisingly quiet and affordable. It is an ideal base for anyone with business in Saint-Germain or the Latin Quarter. The building- which dates from 1658- was designed by Gittard- one of Louis XIV*s architects. It has enjoyed significant upgrades since then. This is a comfortable place- equipped with all the mod cons a business traveler could need. Rooms have replicas of 17th- and 18th-century paintings hanging on the walls. The fresco of Leda and the Swan that hangs in room 100 is not a replica; book well ahead if you want to stay in there.
