The Hotel hacienda Posada de Vallina is located to the southern wall of the legendary Grand Mosque and Cathedral (Mezquita). Most of Cordoba's further attractions are found in urgent vicinity of the hotel, as well.The hotel building dates back to a time before construction of the Mezquita begun. So called Alarifes, the builders of the Mezquita, used to reside in what is today our hotel.In Medieval times, Posada de Vallina became one of the most significant harborages throughout the Iberian peninsula. Due to its brilliant location right at Vía Augusta, an ancient Roman military and trade route, the hotel was popular with colonists and merchants, as studies of archaeologist Laura Aparicio indicate.Worth mentioning is the fact that famous Christopher Columbus during his stay in Cordoba lived in what is today Room 204.The hotel, as you find it today, opened in March 2007 after extensive restoration. * THE MAY CRUCES - Cordoba starts the month of May awash with color in its streets, patios and squares. The city dons its spring party clothes and gets ready for an explosion of elegance in every corner of this magical city. - La Corredera Square:
* The name of this square is derived from the fact that, due to its considerable size, it played host to the city's most popular events, in particular horse races (corredera means racetrack) and bullfights, the latter continuing to be staged here until the first half of the 19th century. Steeped in history, the square has witnessed important proclamations, public executions, auto-da-fes and all manner of other events which drew large crowds. Its present-day layout reflects the design chosen in 1683 by the chief magistrate Francisco Ronquillo, who ordered its construction. For a long time the market was also held here, occupying the central area of the square in various guises. Currently under restoration, La Corredera is a meeting point for both locals and strangers to Cordoba, who sit on its bar terraces and in its cafes or browse in the antique shops which are to be found beneath its portico galleries.

* Standing at the foot of a mountain known as la Desposada (the Newly-Wedded Woman) are the ruins of Medina Azahara. Its construction, which began in 936, was ordered by the first Caliph of Al-Andalus, Abderraman III, in honor of his favorite, Al Zahra. In 1010 it was pillaged and burned down during the civil war which saw the Caliphate divided into kingdoms or taifas. Despite its ruined state, some rooms still illustrate the extravagance and luxury of this mythical town.
