Location
We are located in an elevated position with lovely views overlooking the Bay of Funchal. Vila Camacho is in a residential district about 2km from the city centre which is roughly 25 minutes away on foot and 10 minutes away by bus

Property Description
The 2 star Vila Camacho is a cosy family run guesthouse with 46 rooms all with private bathrooms and a pretty restaurant and terrace noted for its cuisine. All rooms have private bathrooms and telephones. The Vila was not purpose built as a hotel so the rooms come in all shapes and sizes which is part of the charm. Most rooms are quite small but are clean; comfortable; well maintained and brightly decorated with lovely wooden floors; making it an excellent choice for a low cost base from which to explore Funchal and Madeira Island. The Vila has been operating as a guesthouse since 1963 and has many returning customers. The jewel is The Flame Tree Restaurant which serves simple modern Portuguese cooking using local seasonal ingredients and featuring Madeiran dishes. The Vila also offers excellent half board terms. Other facilities include a small pool; a TV bar with major news and sports channels; laptops for hire with wireless internet access and a small wellness centre offering aromatherapy massages and reflexology. Please note that the Vila is located in a hilly area of Funchal and there is no elevator. Free parking is available on the main road outside the hotel. Additional Information; Children age 2 and under stay free in the room with parents and in existing bedding. Children age 3-15 receive a 50pct reduction of the rate per person and half-board. Children over this age will be considered an adult. The hotel reserves the right to without prior notification cancel any reservation with an invalid or incomplete credit card number.

They are fitted with either 2 single beds 90x190 or 1 double bed 135x190 and have a telephone, private bathroom, wooden floors and are brightly decorated. These are excellent value rooms and are the same in all respects to the others rooms except they offer a mountain or panoramic view. Sleeps 3

The Flame Tree restaurant has an overall standard that is superior to many large hotels. It is waiter-service only with no buffets; serving breakfast lunch and dinner as well as bar snacks in the dining room or on the pretty garden terrace. The cuisine can be described as modern Portuguese which means a cuisine based on the Portuguese and Madeiran culture but with some French and Italian influences. The restaurant focuses on local seasonal produce wherever possible. For dinner there is a short A la Carte menu plus daily specials including a reasonable range of vegetarian dishes. At lunchtime the restaurant serves salads sandwiches and bar snacks. Monday night is Gala night with a five-course special menu and live music. Special dietary requirements can usually be catered for and the restaurant can also provide specials menus for groups.

Driving Directions

Starting Point: FNC-Madeira Funchal Airport W, Exit the airport and take the Via Rapida which is the main road from the airport to Funchal. Take the Sao Martinho exit and at the roundabout take the first right. At the T-junction turn left and at the next roundabout turn left again. Continue straight on until you see a big supermarket called SA on your left. Take the next right immediately after the supermarket. Continue straight on along Avenida Estados Unidos da America until you come to a corner which overlooks the whole Bay of Funchal. You will see the Hotel Panoramico on your left. Carry straight on and you will see the Vila Camacho. The entrance is up a small flight of stairs. You can park on the main road. Parking is free. Alternatively you can catch the Aerobus bus service from the airport to Funchal City Centre.
From there take the No 45 bus to Vila Camacho.
